Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) Staff and Others Cooperative Housing Society Ltd.
The RBI society was formed in 1967 to provide housing sites to its members and was registered on 22 February 1968.
The Society in its first project acquired 7.10 acres at 3rd block Jayanagar, Bangalore in May 1968 to form 79 sites, which were allotted to its members.
As the Society could not meet all its members demand for housing sites, it embarked upon a second venture to form another layout in Kothanoor area. While the process of identifying a suitable land was started in 1981 itself, the Society acquired land measuring about 71.10 acres in Kothanoor in early 1982 and formed 916 sites. While 734 sites were allotted and registered in 1994, the remaining 182 sites were allotted and registered in 2002. The layout was designed by M/s Sundaram Architects Pvt. Ltd., one of the most reputed and largest multi-faceted architectural and engineering consultancy firms in India.
The Society has also formed another layout in 2008 at Doddamarenahalli, near big Banyan tree, Bangalore, which is nearing completion.
